IFC Import Settings

The IFC Import Settings dialog provides options to customize how IFC files are imported into Rhino:

  1. Worksession

    • If checked, the IFC file will be imported as a .3dm file and attached to the current session as a worksession. This allows you to use it as a reference or background for your work.

    • If unchecked, the IFC file will be imported directly into the active Rhino document.

  2. Import Spaces

    • When enabled, any IfcSpace entities within the IFC file will be imported into the active document. If disabled, these entities will not be imported.

  3. Import All Categories

    • If checked, all categories within the IFC file will be imported.

    • If unchecked, you can select specific IFC types to be imported.

  4. Location

    • Files can also be imported to a specified CPlane in Rhino. The target CPlane must be named in the Rhino model.
